BASKING SHARK'SI’ve always been
fascinated with “gummy’s” basking sharks, they can grow huge in
size, 30 feet or more. The largest one I ever saw was on Three Dory
Ridge in June2015, The distances between the fin and tail was a lot
longer than my pulpit (25 feet). At times they leave a wake like a
tuna fish, others will be fin and tail towering above the swells
which can be seen for a mile or more away. I’ve seen them in herds
swimming nose to tail in a huge circle just following the lost sod in
front. We even had a big male using the side of my boat to pin a
female against, so he could have himself a little fun. Basking Sharks
are pretty cool….
